Do you have any Nutella in your pantry? Nocciolata? Or, can you mask your face and visit the Quickie Mart around the corner to buy some? I don’t mean to be flippant, but these “Self-frosting Nutella Cupcakes” will indeed make you happier.

The selling point of “self-frosting” means you don’t need to mess with prepping and spreading a frosting atop your cupcakes. However, I suggest not even mentioning “frosting” at all here, because “frosting” comes with specific expectations. Rather, let’s call these what they are: cupcakes with crispy chocolatey tops.

Indeed, the batter comes together easily in the mixer. I warmed my Nutella briefly on the stove top, then dropped and swirled blobs of it onto my 12 cupcakes in the pan.

I baked mine for 29 minutes and enjoyed soft and fluffy cupcakes. The Nutella indulgence was a fun way to turn these into a party.

Next week, I want to indulge in another outrageous dessert: “Mini Pavlovas with Whipped Cream.” That’s right, another party. I’ll see you next week.
